Student Leadership

We believe that valuing the student voice helps contribute towards Citizenship education.

Student Council

Our Student Council is made up of 2 students from each year group, who are elected by students in their year.

The students represent their year groups and work with students, staff and governors to improve school life and inform school decision making.

Achievements from the 23-24 Student Council were:

  • Tailored school shorts being added to the uniform list
  • Renovations to the Upper girls and boys toilets
  • Additional sheltered seating outside
  • Informing the new mobile phone policy

Tutor Ambassadors

Each Tutor Group has 2 Tutor Ambassadors who work with their tutor group to gather student voice on all areas of school life including teaching and learning, personal development, behaviour and culture, school environment and the canteen. Tutor Ambassadors feed their form views to the Student Council and update their tutor groups on the work of the Council.

Head Student Team

Our Head Students, and the Head Student Team are made up of 6 Year 11 students. These students are role models in school reflecting our core values of Aspiration, Kindness and Pride. These students lead the Junior Leadership Team and represent students at school and community events.

Junior Leadership Team

The Junior Leadership Team are our Year 11 Leaders and lead students in many areas including:

  • Hosting our annual Senior Citizens Christmas Party
  • Mentoring and supporting younger students
  • Running enrichment clubs and supporting departments in school events

Anti-racism allies

Students in Years 7-10 are dedicated to promoting key British Values of tolerance and mutual respect throughout our school community. They collaborate with staff at CHSL and partner with the Sir John Brunner Foundation to foster an inclusive environment for all.

Sports Leaders

Sports leaders help PE staff to referee, officiate and organise competitions for local Primary School children in a wide variety of sports and activities.

In addition, they help to support sports clubs throughout school at KS3. This involves coaching and officiating in different sports.

Peer Mentors

Students from Year 11 act as mentors and role models to new Year 7 students, providing support, advice and a friendly face to aid the transition from primary to secondary education.

Subject Ambassadors

Students from across years act as Subject Ambassadors for a range of subjects, helping to promote curriculum areas across the school and supporting department enrichment.
