Uniform and Appearance Guidelines

We continue to believe uniform helps instil in students a sense of pride in their school, contributing to the learning culture and preparing them for the world of work. All students wear the school’s uniform as set out below.

We continue to believe uniform helps instil in students a sense of pride in their school, contributing
to the learning culture and preparing them for the world of work. All students will need to wear the
school’s uniform as set out below. Additional layers such as coats and hooded sweatshirts are not to
be worn inside the building. Most uniform items are widely available; those unique to this school,
which are marked with an asterisk, are supplied through SWI: www.swischoolwear.co.uk

Limited items of jewellery are acceptable in school (a watch and, where ears are pierced, one stud in the lower part of each ear).

Extreme hairstyles and colours are not allowed; this includes colours and coloured streaks in un-natural shades.

We accept that some students may wish to wear make-up but this must be natural looking. No coloured lipstick or heavy eye-makeup is allowed. False lashes, gel, acrylic or false nails are also not allowed.

Skirt length has become an increasing concern. Students are reminded that skirts should be a sensible length. They should be worn no more than 10cms/4 inches above the knee.

We have seen a significant increase in nose piercings. In order to maintain our standards, we will allow one clear nose stud only, which must be removed for PE lessons. Nose rings
of any kind or studs of any other material will not be permitted. Students who do not comply or who refuse to remove unauthorised items will have appropriate sanctions applied.

Important Note:
If students repeatedly challenge the uniform standards, it may become necessary to confiscate items and impose appropriate sanctions.
