PHYSICAL EDUCATION


As a department, we aim to provide a challenging, disciplined and safe environment for high quality learning and teaching. Students should experience a balance of activities which has the necessary coherence and breadth to develop the Curriculum.

The P.E. Department at The County High School, Leftwich aim to promote the physical development of students through purposeful, enjoyable experiences in a range of activities. It aims to develop the right attitude in all students towards taking part in sport and physical activities so that participation can be carried on successfully into adult life, both for continued enjoyment and good health.

The County High School, Leftwich P.E. department is committed to developing a students' aesthetic, physical, intellectual, social and moral development whilst promoting a healthy lifestyle in a caring and safe environment.

Physical education and Extra-curricular Staff will strive to ensure that their knowledge will be up-to date and relevant. They will continue to promote their professional development to ensure that students have opportunities to achieve high standards in a variety of sporting arenas.

Staff will provide a caring and supportive environment where students are supported mentally, socially and physically. A positive attitude will be encouraged and promoted throughout the department by both staff and students.

Sportsmanship will be at the forefront of all teaching and coaching. Students will be encouraged to value and respect one another's ability, self-confidence and self-esteem, and promote the Academy in the community through sport.

The physical education will provide many opportunities to ensure that vast provision promotes increased levels of participation. Students will be provided with opportunities to partake in a variety of activities throughout the year. Levels of skill will be appreciated and individuals will be encouraged to make progress on their own targets.

The extra-curricular programme will promote excellence and participation. Excellence will be developed in many sports where training schedules are provided for skill and fitness. Students will compete in many competitions throughout the school year and will be provided with opportunities to develop themselves as a whole person. In addition opportunities are provided for students to take part in non-competitive recreational activities.
