Languages (Spanish) - Year 8

In Year 8, the students continue to study Spanish for 2 hours per week. Studio 2 is the principal textbook.

Students will build up their knowledge and memory of a "core vocabulary", which will enable them to express themselves in a wide variety of topics. Year 8 students have 2 Student Tracking exam windows during the year, in Spanish they are used to assess the students' progress in the skills of Speaking, Writing, Listening and Reading. Following the exams, students are given back their papers and a copy of the listening transcript, so that their teacher can go through the paper with them, in order to help students understand what they need to do to improve.

WALT: say what we do on holidays, how often, when and where. Also, to communicate past tense holidays / trips.
Extended writing on "holidays". (Written Assessment)
Module 2 – Todo sobre mi vida
WALT: describe what they use mobiles for and TV and film preferences.
Student Tracking 1
Tracking in listening, speaking, reading and writing.  
Module 3 - ¡A comer!
WALT: discuss food preferences and how to order food / drink in a restaurant.
Extended writing on "food preferences". (Written Assessment)  
Module 4- ¿Qué hacmeos?
WALT: know how to describe daily routine and to arrange to go out.

Tracking in listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Module 5 – Operación Verano
WALT: know how to describe holidays and holiday activities with a focus on using 3 tenses in 1 piece of work.
Extended writing using at least 2 tenses. (Written Assessment)
