Design & Technology - Year 8

In Year 8 students have one double lesson of Design and Technology a fortnight and are taught in mixed ability groups. Students will be required to bring basic stationary equipment. They will continue to use their KS3 Design Book provided for them in Year 7.
Students will all follow a number of topics over the year that are carefully designed to build on the basic skills learnt in Year 7. This allows students to develop their skills and to try more complex tasks. They will also be expected to think though problems more for themselves, working independently and using the materials knowledge they have gained to propose informed solutions to design problems. A range of assessment structures will be used over the year including written, verbal and peer assessment.

In the Summer term all students will sit a formal examination to test their designing skills and practical processes.
