Creative Computing & Media - Year 7


In Creative Computing and Media Year 7 students have three lessons a fortnight. They have opportunities to In develop and expand their use of common software programmes and develop multi-media skills. Computer Science is also introduced. All essential equipment is provided but a flash drive and headphones are useful. Students will use Desktop PCs, Cameras and Filmmaking equipment and use of the industry standard recording studio.

Students will learn about the different Hardware components that make up a computer system. As well as learning about binary and how computers process instructions. They will understand the function of the hardware components of a computer system and how they work together.

Computational Thinking 
Students will learn about computational thinking techniques to help with building a solution to a problem. They will learn about standard algorithms and real world problems and how these can be decomposed into smaller sub problems. This unit is all about analysing a problem investigating the requirements and designing a solution.

Film Making  
Students will learn: how to shoot a film, the key shot types and how to edit using a digital software package. This unit is all about how the camera and editing communicate meaning for an audience. Students will learn to use basic editing techniques such as transitions and titling.

Students will learn how different types of data are represented in a computer. They will also understand the nature of threats to digital systems and ways that they can be mitigated.
